A site believed to be the ruins of Hiraizumi Mansion, the Ōshū Fujiwara polity’s administrative center. In addition to moats, buildings, ponds, and walls, masses of diverse relics and artifacts have been recovered through extensive excavations. A bevy of materials important to understanding the culture of Hiraizumi has been preserved here in excellent condition.
